The Saturday (January 21) afternoon feature class at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park was rocking and rolling past the opening quarter before an accident occurred approaching the half resulting in a 'No Contest.'
In the $2,300 Preferred feature, newcomer Adkins Hanover was leading the field in single-file alignment with Forever Paradise set up for a two-hole ride with his three-race win streak on the line before the accident approaching the half.
Racing officials deemed the race a 'No Contest' as the horses approached the three-quarters mark after Junebugs Baby had managed to slip his leg through the wheel of Rash B Havior before coming to a halt in the stretch. Her stablemate, Tell Me Why, was able to pocket ride off of soft fractions and snuck up the passing lane to land her nose on the line first in rein to Adam Merner. Trainer Ronnie Gass later doubled up on afternoon wins with 14-year-old Tominator.
Kenny Arsenault has been red hot to start 2017 at Red Shores and he added a trio of wins to his yearly total as well as cashing in on a training double with DBS Rosco and Dees Boy. Gary Chappell enjoyed a driving double with Mach It So and Lexis Mandy. Merner also drove a pair of winners on the 14-dash card.
