After its January 18 program was cancelled because of frigid temperatures and unsafe track conditions, Truro Raceway has decided to remain dark until
February 15.
“We usually take a month break every year in February, so we decided we would take the break in the last two weeks of January and the first two in February,” Joe Kelly, the racetrack manager, was quoted as saying.
The cancellation of the January 18 program was the third time this winter that weather conditions have forced a shut down.
Meanwhile, Steve Morton, president of the Truro Harness Horsemens Association, announced that the group’s annual awards banquet will be held Saturday, March 28 at the Glengarry Best Western Hotel in Truro.
Morton said members of the Schooner Stable, owners of world champion Somebeachsomewhere, would be special guests.
