Jodie Cullen, the leading trainer at Flamboro Downs for 2024, continued her impressive run on Sunday, Jan. 19, as she teamed up with driver Travis Cullen and the owners of A1stable to score a training triple on the evening's card.
Cullen kicked off the night with a strong performance in Race 1, a $6,300 conditioned pace, where Tells Bells ($5.90) powered to the front from the eight-hole at 9-5 odds and cruised to a 3-1/4-length victory in 1:57.4.
Tells Bells is a four-year-old mare by Tellitlikeitis out of Endora Hanover. With Sunday's victory, she's now an eight-time winner in her career with $55,515 in earnings.
In Race 2, an $8,300 conditioned pace, Grand Circuit ($3.40) capitalized on a pocket trip and used the passing lane to her advantage, winning by a length in 1:56.2.
A four-year-old pacing mare by Always A Virgin out of Ginger Tree Alexis, Grand Circuit now has six lifetime victories with $78,955 in career earnings.
Cullen's training triple was completed in Race 4, an $8,300 conditioned pace, with Royal Tell ($2.80), the 2-5 favourite, who reclaimed the lead just before the half and remained dominant, finishing strong by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.3.
Royal Tell is a five-year-old mare by Tellitlikeitis out of GT Miss Royal. With this win, she now boasts 11 career wins and $94,851 in earnings.
Jodie Cullen topped the national standings for training victories in 2024, sending out a career-high 241 winners from her stable. She is on track to reclaim her title as the leading trainer at Flamboro Downs, now sitting atop the standings with 11 wins and $135,461 in earnings.
