On Monday, Jan. 20, All Gas No Brakes never seemed to push the brakes as he proved to be the strongest in the $24,000 featured trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Driver Tyler Borth, who recorded a driving triple on the night, settled the 14-1 longshot All Gas No Brakes third off the gate as 8-5 favourite Franks Angel (Bob McClure) took command, with Handsome Sebastian (Travis Cullen) following in the pocket. Franks Angel posted early fractions of :29 and :58.4. Drebin (Anthony MacDonald) made a first-over move from fifth, bringing four others along for the ride and leaving All Gas No Brakes boxed in. Just before the three-quarter pole, Drebin surged to the front, reaching the mark in 1:27.3. Although Drebin looked poised for the win, Borth found room with All Gas No Brakes, splitting horses and unleashing a powerful stretch drive to capture the victory by a head in 1:57.4. Patriarch Hanover (Doug McNair) finished second, while Crystal Baller (Tyler Jones) closed strongly to take third.
All Gas No Brakes is a six-year-old son of Uncle Peter and Norse Comer. The gelding is trained by Victor Puddy for Gordon McDonald and Christopher Boland.
The winning ticket paid an impressive $31.20.
With this victory, All Gas No Breaks is sitting at 27 lifetime wins and $269,042 in career earnings.
