Rachel Andrew trainee Brodys Scrapper swept to the top rounding the final turn and spurted to a six-and-a-quarter length victory in the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Jan. 20.

Driver Travis Cullen, who co-owns the eight-year-old Mach Three gelding with Andrews, positioned Brodys Scrapper third to the quarter while Boomboom Ballykeel led to a :28 opening quarter. Unchallenged to a :59.2 half, Boomboom Ballykeel was forced to quicken when Cullen kicked first over with Brodys Scrapper moving towards a 1:27.3 third quarter but soon lost the lead heading to the stretch.

Brodys Scrapper opened four-and-a-half lengths on Boomboom Ballykeel heading into the stretch. Champagne Phil slid out of the pocket to give chase in second while Boomboom Ballykeel settled for third in the 1:56 mile.

Winning his 21st race from 109 starts, Brodys Scrapper has now earned $128,801 and paid $8.80 to win.

Cullen also steered Keep Coming to a two-and-three-quarter length victory in the $8,500 Preferred 3 co-feature which had nearly half the field scratch.

Lets Wait And See led most of the mile, posting fractions of :28.4, :59 and 1:27.4. Cullen tipped Keep Coming out of the pocket moving towards the third quarter and edged towards the front rounding the final turn. Keep Coming's lead widened through the stretch in progress to a 1:56.1 mile as Uf Bettors Hanover slid into second and Brookdale Sonny into third.

A six-year-old gelding by Mystery Chase, Keep Coming has won 18 races from 98 starts, earning $92,347. Cullen and trainer Rachel Andrew own the $4.40 winner.
