'Mud Pie' Overcomes Tough Trip; Six For Palone

Parked the entire first quarter, Mud Pie Hanover was unassailable once she made the front, capturing Friday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows in a sharp 1:52.3

Leaving from Post 9, Mud Pie Hanover got the worst of the opening panel on a blustery, snowy evening. But she persevered for Eric Ledford, and once on the point, she brooked no serious challenge. No Sugar Needed was second while Crossthreaded rallied for show.

Jason Robinson trains Mud Pie Hanover, a six-year-old daughter of Allamerican Native-Mud Hen, who extended her career bankroll to $249,334, for Robert Main.

Dave Palone drove six winners on the 15-race card for five different trainers including Ron Burke, John Moschetta, Jr., Mike Palone, Tim Twaddle and Dan Walski.
