It has been reported that on December 20 the Maryland Video Lottery Facility Location Commission voted 5-2 in favour of approving a $925-million casino resort at the National Harbor in Prince George’s County.
An article by Southern Maryland Newspapers Online explains that some of the commissioners were sympathetic to the situation at Rosecroft Raceway, although Penn National Gaming’s racino proposal for the historic track did not win the vote for the coveted casino gaming licence.
The casino expansion at the National Harbor will be undertaken by MGM Resorts International, whose CEO/President Jim Murren was quoted as saying, “We’re extremely happy with the decision.”
