Trotter Just Like Lloyd kept his Canadian record perfect with another Preferred victory on Wednesday at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Fresh off a win in his Canadian debut at Georgian Downs on Boxing Day, Just Like Lloyd romped to a six length triumph early this evening for catch-driver Robert Sparling Jr. and trainer Rene Allard.

With the inside post advantage, Indiana Hall (Alfie Carroll) established the lead early on over post four starter Long Ago (Bruce Richardson) while 'Lloyd' settled away third after leaving from the five-hole. Following a :27.4 opening quarter, three-time Wednesday winner Sparling sent the 4-5 favourite first up and cleared to command at the :57.4 half-mile mark.

Down the backstretch, Just Like Lloyd began to draw away, opening up three and a half lengths on his seven foes by the 1:26.4 third quarter station. He nearly doubled that margin as he cruised home for the 1:57.2 triumph. Chinnys Wings (Doug Bowins) rallied three-wide down the backstretch around eventual third-place finisher Zorgwijk Jock (Jean Renaud) and chased home the winner to place.

Claimed on Sept. 28, 2012 at Pocono Downs by Lee Barton Enterprises Ltd. of Edmonton, Alta, and Michel Allard of Saint-Esprit, Que., the five-year-old Like A Prayer gelding has won five of his nine starts since, including his last four in a row.

Just Like Lloyd paid $3.70 to win.
