.

According to a report on RacingPost.com, the country's racing industry is pinning its hopes on an amendment to receive a portion of slot machine revenue. The request was recently approved by the parliament's Budget and Constitutional Affairs Commission and will be evaluated by the Budget and Finance Commission next before being submitted to the government.

"This is definitely a positive step," Guido Melzi d'Eril, president of the Federation of Racecourses, was quoted as saying in the article. "Now it is up to us to show there is a commitment to secure the future of Italian horse racing and trotting."
