Major Ideal was sitting fourth when Tony Hall sent him after the leader, Handsome Prince, who raced well despite a demanding :26.3 opening quarter in the slop. Major Ideal covered the back half in :57 and downed Handsome Prince by a head in 1:52.4, with Go Go Raider a rallying third.
