Western Fair Raceway will host this year’s Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Championships for the first time since the popular year-end showcase event was
introduced.
The OSS announced this year’s schedule last week which included the Grassroots Semi-Finals for the eight divisions, four for two-year-olds, four for three-year-olds, divided by sex and gait, at Western Fair on October 15.
The top 16 point earners in each division (points are earned based on performance in the Grassroots Series throughout the season) which are entered in the Semi-Finals will face off in two $30,000 races per category at the London half-mile oval on October 15.
The top four finishers from the two Semi-Finals will then meet in the $100,000 finals the following week, on October 23. Therefore, the purses for that evening of harness racing at Western Fair will be well over $800,000, and potentially the richest card of the year.
