Seventeen days into the new year and 11 days of racing in 2024 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District have been crossed off the calendar and 2023's leading driver Tyler Borth has kept the ball rolling with another five-win tally on the Wednesday, Jan. 17 evening card.

Borth opened up the card with a gate-to-wire score with Ultimate Twix ($3.10) in a distaff claiming pace worth $5,000. The Dean Nixon student won by five lengths in 2:05.3. Nixon and Borth teamed up for a double after winning race six, a distaff claiming pace worth $5,500, with Ms Chantalmachabay ($3.30) by two lengths in 2:04.

In race two, a claiming pace going for $4,200, Borth and Maximus Power ($2.80) had to overcome a three-wide lock at the opening panel before taking command and going on to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 2:03.1 for trainer Cassidy Schneider.

His natural hat trick came in races five through seven. In race five's claiming pace, he overcame post eight with Kayla Hendry student Papiamento ($3.60) to win by three-quarters of a length in 2:01.4 and take home the winner's share of the $4,000 purse.

His five-bagger was completed with Takeapeek At Me ($4.40) in race seven, an $8,000 conditioned trot. The Jason Sherman trainee won by 1-1/2 lengths in 2:03.

Borth has piloted 21 victors from 55 starts so far this season at the London, Ont. oval.
