Matthew Zlotkowski, 34, of Three Rivers, MA, captured the January 14 World Harness Handicapping Championship Qualifier at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

The qualifier required contestants to bet a minimum of ten $10 win, place or win/place wagers on Meadowlands races.

Zlotkowski built his $100 bankroll into $630, which earned him the $2,120 top cash prize and an $800 seat in the $50,000 World Harness Handicapping Championship, which will take place on April 29 at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

His key wager was $50 to win on #3, The Rock, in Race 7, which netted him $495. Zlotkowski added to his total by cashing for $38 on Race #8 with Hillbilly Hanover and $95 in Race #12 with One More Miracle. He finished the contest with a $26 score in the final race with #5 Drunken Terror.

This was Zlotkowski’s first trip to the Meadowlands and only the second contest he has participated in.

Also earning a berth into the World Harness Handicapping Champion Final was James Sidor of Bloomfield, NJ.

The top 10 prize list appears below.

The next Meadowlands WHHC Qualifier is set for Saturday, February 25. Visit playmeadowlands.com for complete Qualifier details.
