A pair of marquee events anchor the card of harness racing on Saturday (Jan. 17) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino, with the PEISHOA Open Trot and a deep Preferred Pace drawing quality fields to the capital oval.

The 14-dash program gets rolling at 12:30 p.m. (AST) highlighted by the $4,200 PEISHOA Open Trot in Race 6 and the $5,100 Preferred Pace in Race 13.

The Preferred Pace has Impeccable Shadow drawing post one for trainer-driver Paul Langille and owners Dale & Ronnie Rennie Inc., and Melissa Rennie. The son of Shadow Play was a six-time winner in 2025.

Howmac Maximus looms the danger from post two for driver Marc Campbell, who will look to defend his Red Shores Charlottetown driving title for the 17th straight season. Tammy Collings trains the son of Articulator.

Merigo Magic leaves from post three with Adam Merner steering from his own barn. The former Atlantic Stakes Star will try to get the first win of his five-year-old season.

Captainofrocknroll (To be driven by Ken Murphy) was a runner-up to Bee Two Bee last week, with that pacer absent from action this week. Jennifer Doyle trains the newcomer, who had been racing in New York.

T H Boomtown (Gilles Barrieau) completes the tight knit field, with the Ron Matheson trainee lining up in post five.

The Post Time Picks likes Captainofrocknroll.

“Captainofrocknroll was racing well in the claiming ranks at Saratoga, but it's hard to judge how that translates to here, even though they are both half-mile tracks. That question was answered on Tuesday. He raced awesome in his PEI debut as he staged a late rally to pass some really nice horses in the final quarter to finish second to Bee Two Bee. With Bee Two Bee not competing in this race, that clears the stage for him to pick up his first Red Shores victory.”

The $4,200 Open Trot is a PEISHOA event. Buckhead Ridge (Marc Campbell) will try to win again after scoring a front-end victory at this level last time out for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Brady Doyle of Stratford.

His foes include Rocket Blast (Corey MacPherson), New Legacy (Murphy), Whole Nother (Colin Sheppard) and Fight Song (Jason Hughes).
