The connections of 2021 Breeders Crown winner Felicityshagwell S have announced that the trotting mare has been retired from racing and will be bred in 2022.
After five seasons of competing at the very highest international level, Felicityshagwell S (Maharajah – Diaz Boko) retires with a record of 11-9-8 from 49 starts, $525,800 in earnings and a mark of 1:51.1 (BT 1:50.2). After three injury-plagued seasons in Sweden she moved to the stable of Åke Svanstedt in early 2020.
In her two North American seasons, she took a lifetime mark of 1:51.1 in Lexington in October 2020, but her greatest triumph is without a doubt her convincing win in the 2021 Breeders Crown Open Mare Trot. Showing her characteristic gate speed, she blasted to the front and after a controlled first half, Åke and his adept handling were able to wire a very accomplished field that included Atlanta and When Dovescry.
According to owners Knutsson Trotting of Del Ray Beach, Florida, Felicityshagwell S will now be bred to Walner in 2022 and to Captain Corey in 2023.
