Meadowlands Racetrack has announced non-racing events taking place at the East Rutherford, New Jersey oval next month.

Meadowlands Racetrack will host its annual Winter Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Feb. 1.

More than $3,000 USD is up for grabs in this year’s competition with prizes split among the following categories: Homestyle Chili, Red Chili, People’s Choice Chili, Best Booth and Salsa.

As of Jan. 15, 10 chili heads have signed up in the traditional Red Chili category, with 14 competing for the Homestyle Chili grand prize and 10 vying for the Salsa prize.

Racetrack guests can also be part of the excitement by sampling tasty chili and voting for their favourite to earn the title of People’s Choice champion. Voting kicks off at 7 p.m.
