According to an article in today’s edition of The News Journal, Delaware’s Governor, Jack Markell, intends to appeal a ruling to drastically limit sports betting

to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The state, which wants wide-ranging sports betting, was told it could only offer three-game parlay bets on the NFL at an appeals court ruling in late August. A further appeal to the fully Third Circuit Court was denied in late September.

The legal costs for the filings will be shared by the state’s three existing casinos – Dover Downs, Delaware Park and Harrington Raceway.

“We think it's a worthwhile investment on out part,” said Dover Downs’ CEO Ed Sutor. “We agreed this is something we'll take the risk on.”
