Freehold Raceway's leading driver over the last two years, Austin Siegelman, had his first big day in the bike on Thursday (Jan. 13), with five winners on the nine-race card.
Siegelman started his day on a winning note, scoring in race one on Burning Desire, trained by Kubi Erzene. He got back-to-back wins in races three and four, driving Goinroundncircles to victory for owner/trainer Tom Lail as well as Justa Camilion for trainer Brandon Mongiello.
Siegelman completed the grand slam in race eight, as he guided Princess Holly N to the win for owner/trainer Mike Fiumenero. He capped off his big day in race nine, as favoured Takeittotheface came up to the inside to win for trainer Symon Spicer.
After a three-for-27 start to the 2022 season, Siegelman has moved back into first place in the local standings, with eight victories.
Jacob Cutting also had a big day, with three driving wins. Two of them, Pedigree Blue Chip in race five and Paloma Ruiz in race six, were on horses he trained. He also drove Red Dirt Boomer to victory in race two for owner/trainer Mike Polhemus.
Live racing continues at Freehold on Friday (Jan. 14), starting at 12:30 p.m. There will be a carryover in the 50-cent Pick 5, starting in race five, worth $467.41.
