Six Straight For Holy Halibut

Extending his winning streak to six-in-a-row was like shooting fish in a barrel for trotter Holy Halibut at Woodbine Racetrack on Thursday evening

.

The photogenic gelding, who recently made his way north of the border after campaigning at Pompano Park, didn’t mind the sloppy footing one iota as noted by his three-length triumph in 1:59.

Sylvain Filion was at the lines behind Holy Halibut, and after sitting fourth to the quarter pole he brushed the four-year-old son of Holy Guacamolie-CR Gone Fishin to the engine. He hit the half in :59 and the three-quarter pole in 1:29.1 before sprinting home in :29.4. That was good enough to earn him the decisive score over Weslynn Legacy and Cool Guy.

James Belanger of Azilda, ON owns and trains the seven-time winner, who went 6-for-14 last season. The lightly-raced square gaiter has managed to haul in more than $24,000 to date.
