Jimmy Marohn, Jr. was injured in a qualifying race during the Wednesday, January 13 morning qualifying session at Monticello Raceway.

Though details at this time are sketchy, the incident happened after the last qualifying race.

Marohn had finished third with Pvt Vinnie Fra and after that race as the horses were pulling up Marohn’s pacer fell and unseated him and he was run over from behind.

According to early reports, Marohn’s problem could either be a shoulder or a collarbone injury.

He was taken immediately to Community General Hospital in nearby Harris, N.Y. for further observation. Marohn was taken off all his drives Wednesday at Monticello.

Last year Marohn, 27, won 257 races and was among the top five in races won at the 'Mighty M,' as well as copping the leader driver award at Tioga Downs last summer.

More information will be forthcoming as details develop.
