Nova Scotia Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell is pleased with the progress that is being made at the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition. Stating that he understands that the revamping of the NSPE is a “work in progress,” Minister Colwell has said that things are “going in the right direction.”

Minister Colwell’s comments have come in a recent article by the Truro Daily News. He was quoted in the report as saying that the new management group for Truro Raceway’s operator is “solid” and that it has the right approach to make things work

"We've got solid management now, number one,” Minister Colwell said. “You know, someone that's got a lot of experience and who's got the right approach and right attitude and the right enthusiasm to make this all work."

He mentioned that the efforts of the new management group are "going in the right direction," but stated that "it's going to take a little while, as we all realize, to really get this turned around to where it should be and making money on an ongoing basis."

The Truro Daily News article has also quoted Minister Colwell as saying, "We're on the road, I think, to making the facility sustainable. When I talk to the manager up there he's very happy with what's going on and we're very happy with the progress he's making and the (interim) board is making."
