Photo Maxx made the winner’s circle photo for the second straight week in the $26,000 Open Trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, Jan. 12
.
In previous starts, Mike Cole drove Photo Maxx from behind to win the week’s top trot last week and twice in the last three starts. This time the SJs Photo-Affinity gelding wasted little time getting the lead and then never looked back in a 1:55.4 victory for owner-trainer Lauren Allen. The victory pushed Photo Maxx’s lifetime earnings over the $400,000-mark. Starsel (Daryl Bier) raced gamely to finish second with Cold Winner (Ron Pierce) the third place finisher.
Ron Pierce steered Steve Anderson’s Sea Raven, trained by Kay Gannon, to victory in the $18,000 Winners Over Trot in 1:56.4 giving the only distaff in the race her third success out of her four previous races. Good Feeling (Ross Wolfenden) and Commando K (Vic Kirby) finished second and third respectively.
