Its Saturday Night fittingly starred on the Saturday, Jan. 10 card at Woodbine Mohawk Park as he won the $40,000 Open Pace for his first top-class victory in Canada.

Starting from the rail, he got away third as odds-on favourite Taurasi came out firing for Doug McNair, gliding to the lead from post six and pacing a :27.4 opener over the track rated good and a second slow. Pocket-sitter Brue Hanover (Jody Jamieson) launched a second-quarter attack on Taurasi, who stood his ground and forced the challenger to pull back into the two-hole nearing the half in :55.2.

Its Saturday Night then took off from third and was forced three-wide as Brue Hanover re-emerged to circle the struggling leader, and those two battled heads apart through three-quarters in 1:24. Its Saturday Night left the tiring Brue Hanover behind in mid-stretch and motored home for Louis-Philippe Roy, reaching the line 3-1/2 lengths to the good in 1:52. Blue Hunt (Ed Hensley) surged for second over Remember The Alamo (Tyler Borth).

Its Saturday Night won for the second time in three starts since moving to the Dave Menary barn in December. The five-year-old son of Always B Miki-Night Music, owned by Pollack Racing LLC of Venetia, Pa., is now 12-for-55 lifetime with $451,116 in earnings. He returned $13 at the windows.
