Tyler Borth has kept up the momentum into a grand 2024 season with five wins on the Wednesday (Jan. 10) evening card at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Borth won the opener, a claiming pace worth $5,500, with Mike Timpano student I Loved Her First ($2.70) by a half length in 2:00.2 before rattling off a four-win streak from races seven through 10.
Massive Profit ($3) kicked off the late grand slam in a $6,000 conditioned trot. The William Hamm trainee and Borth sat fourth through most of the mile and waited to the stretch to make their move. Passing by their challengers and opening up, Massive Profit went on to win by two lengths in 2:02.2.
Woodmere Gaelic ($3.50) followed up in race eight, a claiming pace worth $4,200, off a gate-to-wire trip en route to a 1-3/4 length victory in 2:00.1 for Borth and conditioner Darryl Laver.
Ms Chantalmachabay ($4.70) brought the natural hat trick in race nine. In the $5,300 fillies and mares claiming pace, the Dean Nixon student had to race first over through the half and then in the third tier through the three-quarters. Swinging wide, the filly swept by the field to win by 4-1/4 lengths in 2:01.2.
Borth wrapped up his five-bagger with The Boss Man ($6.70). Using a gate-to-wire tactic in the $8,000 conditioned trot, the Stephen Bossence trainee continued his lead through to a three-quarters of a length victory at the wire in 2:00.1.
After sweeping the co-features among four races on Tuesday's (Jan. 9) card in addition to Wednesday's five wins, Borth (13) regained the top spot in the early dash for the title with a one win advantage on the leaderboard over Garrett Rooney (12). Borth led all drivers in 2023 by money ($1,183,122) and wins (192).
