Fearless Man lacked staying power in his Boxing Day assignment at Woodbine Racetrack, but that wasn’t the case in Monday’s follow-up at the Rexdale, Ont. oval.
Trainer/driver Rick Zeron hustled Fearless Man to the lead from Post 3, and together they led the group through fractions of :26.2, :56 and 1:25.3 before digging down deep and using a :29.1 final frame to seal the deal by half a length over Wild And Crazy Guy in 1:54.4. Its Huw You Know survived a tough trip to finish third.
Sent off as the 3-2 favourite in the $24,000 conditioned event, Fearless Man kicked off his 2017 campaign by registering the 29th win of his career. The seven-year-old son of Elegant Man-Lasting Beauty pushed his lifetime earnings to $544,251 with the win. He is owned by Rick Zeron Stables, Noblock Racing Stable, Murray Greenfield and Cool Cat Racing Inc.
