Trot Insider has compiled a list of the leading drivers and trainers at racetracks across Canada through the 2025 harness racing season.
Austin Sorrie topped the national driving standings in wins as the only pilot to surpass 400 on the year, dethroning reigning champ James MacDonald with a total of 404. MacDonald retained his earnings crown, though, racking up $7,992,928, and tied for second in wins with young gun Samuel Fillion as both recorded 363 victories.
A Lampman Cup title and a season at the lines of rookie pacing standout Beau Jangles propelled Bob McClure to second in the earnings leaderboard with $7,296,858. Louis-Philippe Roy, who was second in the Ontario Sires Stakes program, locked up the third spot with $7,013,357.
After finishing a narrow second in the UDRS standings to Brandon Campbell last year, Guy Gagnon put up a .478 figure to take the title in 2025 and post the best UDRS in North American harness racing for drivers with more than 500 starts. Campbell finished second with .407 and Marc Campbell was third once again as he put together a .398 season.
Jodie Cullen repeated as Canada's top dash-winning trainer, scoring 222 victories. Second and third were Kyle Fellows and Francis Guillemette, who posted career-best totals of 167 and 143, respectively.
Ron Burke's success in the Breeders Crown at Woodbine Mohawk Park and several of Canada's major stakes amounted to $3,972,027 in earnings in the country, giving him the top spot among trainers. It was the first time a U.S.-based trainer led Canada in earnings since Jimmy Takter in 2015, when he won six Breeders Crowns. The Dave Menary barn, headed by O'Brien Award finalist and Dan Patch Award winner Ervin Hanover, finished second in money with $3,103,319. Jodie Cullen's trainees built a collective bankroll of $3,067,411, good for a third-place finish.
Gagnon swept the URS categories with a .487 UTRS, his best season since 2017. Mandy Archer, who beat him to the Rideau Carleton Raceway dash-winning training title, had to settle for second in national UTRS with a figure of .456. Future Star Award finalist Landon Campbell came in third with a strong .406.
