With the 2010 season of harness racing complete, Trot Insider has compiled a list of the track title holders from coast to coast to recognize Canada’s top drivers and trainers

Driver Mark MacDonald enjoyed one of his best seasons capturing the overall Canadian money title after grossing $8,457,354 in purses thanks to multiple stakes victories including the nation’s richest event, the $1.5 million North America Cup with Sportswriter. Meanwhile, 21-year-old driver Scott Zeron, winner of this year’s Gold Cup & Saucer in P.E.I. with Part Shark, cemented his place at the top of the win column by traveling across the country to pick up 606 victories.
Canada’s leading money-earning trainer Casie Coleman enjoyed a career year banking $4,714,641 thanks to multiple stakes starters including North America Cup champion Sportswriter, Fan Hanover winner Western Silk and She’s A Great Lady champion Idyllic, among others. For the second consecutive year, Rene Allard, who captured his second straight edition of Quebec’s Le 5 Milles while campaigning a consistent and solid stable, earned the nation’s training title for wins having sent 226 winners postward in 2010.
