Marclif Victoria Best in Xtreme Marathon

August 9, 2008

Marclif Victoria and driver Aaron Byron used second over tactics at the end of the race to eventually take top honours in the $25,000 Xtreme Marathon one and seven-eighths mile trot on Saturday night as part of Xtreme Horsepower at Georgian Downs.

With Trudel (J.R. Plante) leading the majority of the three-lap race, Byron had Marclif Victoria (Brylin Boyz - Marclfi Aislin) spotted second over with one lap to go. Down the backstretch, Byron tipped three-wide and bolted past the leaders, hitting the wire in 3:53. Like Bob Promised (Simon Allard) closed well for second with Nineanddevine (Steve Byron) finishing third.

Mark Etsell trains Marclif Victoria for Clifton Walsh of Wingham, Ont.
