ORC Rules On Race Date Submissions

Published: December 15, 2008 07:32 pm EST

The Ontario Racing Commission has released its decision pertaining to 2009 race date submissions by Western Fair Raceway, Grand River Raceway and Woodbine Entertainment Group.

Western Fair Association had applied for 125 dates for 2009. A decision by the Director had been deferred in order that an analysis of Saturday racing in October 2008 at Western Fair could be obtained and reviewed. Western Fair has since reconsidered its position and reapplied with a calendar of race dates based on its 2008 approved dates.

A supplemental 2009 race date application was received from Grand River Agricultural Society for four additional Thursdays in October and circulated for public input. The Director has reviewed the submission and approved the additional dates to Grand River’s approved race date schedule.

Additionally, Woodbine Entertainment Group applied for a number of post time changes for each of their three race meets. Woodbine Standardbred Sundays in January and February were approved for 1:20 p.m. The Director was also informer of other post time changes, which did not require approval because the change was 30 minutes or less.

If any person is unsatisfied with the Director’s decisions in this matter, please be advised that the person has the right to appeal this decision to the Commission.
