Trot Insider has learned that officials at Rideau Carleton Raceway have been forced to cancel the card of qualifying races scheduled for this morning due to extreme cold weather in the Ottawa area.
.
As of 11:00 this morning, temperatures in the area were gauged at -25 C (or -13 F) without taking the wind chill into consideration.
Rideau is scheduled to put on a 15-race live card this evening with a first race post time of 6:30 p.m.
Trot Insider has learned that even though the temperatures are bone-chilling, track management and horsemen will be attempting to complete tonight's card.
