Top News Stories Of 2009: 25-1
The Standardbred Canada website and Trot Insider present the annual Christmas tradition of listing the top 50 news stories of the year, and today we feature the top 25

While Muscle Hill was voted by SC website readers as harness racing's newsmaker of the year for 2009, one event certainly dominated the more than 6,800 news stories published since January 1 in terms of traffic. On March 2 at Woodbine Racetrack, the $55,400 Ontario Boys Pacing Series final for four-year-olds was marred by an injury to pacer Warp Speed that spurred a horrific accident.
Drivers Mario Baillargeon, Chris Christoforou, Roger Mayotte, Robert Shepherd and Rick Zeron all received injuries to various degrees. The updates that Trot Insider subsequently posted on the injured reinsmen also scatter amongst the top 25 new stories.
