New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association President John Forbes has gone on the record as saying that his organization would have no qualms with the Meadowlands Racetrack simulcasting out-of-state thoroughbred races or hosting live

standardbred racing at the East Rutherford oval despite the lack of a current deal in place for the future of Monmouth Park.

In a report by John Brennan in The Bergen Record, Forbes was quoted as saying, "We're not going to interfere in any way there," and that "we don't have any problems with the harness side."

Although, the article does also explain that neither Governor Chris Christie or New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority Dennis Robinson have been able to guarantee that the deal to transfer control of the Meadowlands from the state to Jeff Gural is a slam dunk, regardless of what happens with Monmouth.

The Bergen Record article concludes with a quote by Robinson in regard to the transfer of both racetracks to private operation. "The incentive is there for all of us to get a deal done, and we are working on it," Robinson was quoted as saying. "Our intent still is to get both deals completed."
