Final Day At Harrisburg Winds Down

The 2016 Harrisburg Mixed Sale concludes Friday with the second of two mixed sale sessions at the PA Farm Show Complex.

With a focus on racehorses, a number of familiar names fetched in excess of $100,000 from the crowd in attendance. A total of 14 racehorses sold for that price or higher, with pacing mare Bettor Be Steppin garnering the most attention. The four-year-old multiple stakes-winning daughter of Bettors Delight - Two Steppin Sally was purchased by Hanover Shoe Farms for $200,000.

Satin Pillows fetched the highest price in the first mixed sale session on Thursday. The regally-bred daughter of Conway Hall - Bold Dreamer, already the dam of multiple stakes winner and Dan Patch champ To Dream On, was selling as part of the William Weaver dispersal in foal to Cantab Hall. She was purchased by Hunterton Farms' Steve Stewart for $250,000.

Thus far, 180 broodmares have amassed gross sales of $4,876,000, bringing an average of $27,089.

While he wasn't present in the sales ring, Muscle Hill remains a red-hot harness racing commodity. Two shares of the stallion were offered in the stallion share section of the auction and both attracted international interest. The first share sold to Hanover Shoe Farms for $175,000 while the second was purchased by Sweden's Reijo Liljendahl for $170,000.

The Mixed Sale has a total of 768 entries, including 197 broodmares and broodmare prospects, 24 weanlings, 32 yearlings, 58 stallion shares, and 457 racehorses. The Mixed Sale features top quality dispersals from Peninsula Farm selling broodmares from William Weaver Estate, Concord Stud Farm selling Katz/Libfeld broodmare reduction, and Concord Stud Farm selling stallion shares from William Weaver Estate; Little Miss Dragon p,3, 1:50.2 ($767,634), dam of Delightful Dragon p,5, 1:50 ($475,411) and in foal to Roll With Joe; Symphony In Motion p,6, 1:49 ($1,065,949), dam of Normandy Beach p,2, 1:52.1f-16 ($160,000) and in foal to Sweet Lou; Venus Delight p,5, 1:49.4 ($1.1 million); Charmed Life 4, 1:52.2 ($1.1 million); Bettor Be Steppin p,3, 1:50f ($793,210).
