Big Saturday For Team Rennison In Woodstock Finale
Trainer George Rennison had a lot to celebrate on Saturday, Oct. 14.
On the racetrack, Rennison celebrated a training double on the final card of harness racing for the 2023 season at Connell Park in Woodstock, N.B. The Truro, N.S.-based conditioner found himself in the winner's circle courtesy a pair of successful Mark Haig steers. U Bettim Watching (2:09.2, $3.80) was best in the second and American Risk thoroughly dominated his rivals in the $2,500 Winners Over feature in the fourth race, winning by more than 13 lengths with the mile timed in 1:58.2 over the track listed as 'good' with a two-second allowance.
The two victories for Rennison helped him clinch the training title at Woodstock for the 2023 season. With 12 wins and horses earning $30,774, Rennison topped both standings on the training side.
Reasons to celebrate for Rennison didn't end there, as George was also celebrating a wedding anniversary and 23 years of marriage with his wife, Andrea.
Haig's driving double gave him nine local tallies, one fewer than Todd Trites who was inactive on Saturday but bested all sulkysitters at Connell Park with 10 wins and $39,729.
