The sale, which improved more than six per cent from last year's offering, "came up roses" according to SC Sales Manager Heather Reid.

"First of all I want to thank all the consignors for supporting the Canadian Yearling Sale and hopefully their success showed in the average," stated Reid after the sale. "I also want thank all the buyers for all supporting and best of luck to them with their purchases. Last but certainly not least, thanks to all the staff for all their dedication before, during and after the sale."

Camluck boasted the highest average, with nine yearlings averaging over $40,000. Mach Three was not far behind with a $37,000-plus average. On the trotting side, Here Comes Herbie, Angus Hall and Kadabra all managed averages of more than $27,000.

Among first crop stallions, Jeremes Jet and Stonebridge Regal were tops in averages with both coming in at over $20,000. Lis Mara and Shark Gesture were not far behind, falling just shy of the $20,000 plateau.

"I was optimistic going into the sale but had all body parts crossed hoping it would come true and it did,"continued Reid. "More yearlings were sold this year than last and we still were able to have a 6.4% increase in our average."
