The PEI Harness Racing Industry Association (PEIHRIA) would like to remind owners that the foal incentive for foals of 2021 will be available this year.

This incentive is to assist owners with the cost of registering their foals with Standardbred Canada in 2021. To be eligible for the incentive, the foal must be born on P.E.I. and the mare must have resided on P.E.I. for at least 183 days during the 2021 foaling year. The deadline to submit the paperwork is January 31, 2022. Owners will need to provide supporting documentation in the form of a signed affidavit as well as foal registration information from Standardbred Canada. Forms can be found at peiharnessracing.ca under the 'Forms' tab on the menu bar.

The PEIHRIA would also like to remind owners who reside outside of P.E.I. that have boarded broodmares on P.E.I. for at least 183 days during the 2021 foaling season and will be nominating their foals as yearlings to the Lady Slipper Stakes and the Joe O’Brien Stakes that they are required to submit a resident broodmare form signed by the manager of the farm where the broodmare was boarded and submit the signed affidavit to the PEIHRIA by no later than December 10, 2021.
