On Monday, January 31, 2022, Standardbred Canada launched an updated version of its standardbredcanada.ca website.
While the site layout is different, all of the features from the previous website remain intact. Menu items are largely untouched, and content that was available on the previous site is still available on the new website.
The website refresh was undertaken in large part because the previous technology platform that the old website was built on had become obsolete and unsupported, thus the requirement to launch the update. Standardbred Canada appreciates that there are improvements that can, and will be, made going forward and realizes that this change is a big one for the many loyal followers who use the site regularly.
“The new website was something that we needed to do to stay current, and we ask and thank our members, stakeholders and racing fans for being patient throughout this process,” said Dan Gall, President and CEO of Standardbred Canada. “This was the first website facelift we have made in more than a decade. We fully understand that change is never easy, and our team is currently working day and night to improve on the experience for all users and address any issues that arise.
“This website refresh was necessary for Standardbred Canada as it moves us to a new platform which is more modern and secure,” said Gall. “Moving to this more robust platform addresses security and performance issues and provides Standardbred Canada with much greater flexibility going forward for a more visual website with more photos, video and multimedia options.”
In order to help users navigate the new site, below are some tips and troubleshooting information:
First, make sure your bookmarks are updated to https://standardbredcanada.ca to access the SC homepage on your desktop or mobile device. The https is very important to ensure that our members are accessing the secure version of the site.
Members will notice a change in mobile presence as the site now fits responsively to the device. Desktop users will recognize a traditional navigational menu, while those using smartphones and tablets will find all of those parts of the site located in the menu ( ☰ ) to the right of the magnifying glass at the top of the page. Tap the ☰ to expand the menu and >> to drop the menu down further.
(at left, before and at right, after tapping the menu icon for the mobile site)
Mobile users will also notice a difference for the main Entries / Results pages in accessing links once a drop-down menu for track or date is selected. Scroll down the page once those selections have been made to access the links requested.
(at left, selecting a track or date, and then at right, scrolling down to view the tracks on the mobile site)
We're currently experiencing issues with entries and results pages for users that are not logged in. If you have a SC account, you should have no issues accessing entries and results pages. Anonymous users are having trouble getting up-to-date results. We apologize for this issue and we're working with our web development team on the issue.
Feedback on the website refresh can be sent to SC through the website feedback form
