N.B. Fundraiser Surpasses Goal
A small group of horsemen in New Brunswick recently banded together to raise funds to resurface the track at Exhbition Park Raceway in Saint John. Their target was $3,000, but the results were much better.
Debbie Mahar of the Saint John Harness Horsemen Association told Trot Insider that they were able to raise more than double that amount. Mahar was thrilled with the outpouring of support.
"Response and support leading up to, and including the May 8th fundraiser was overwhelming to say the least," Mahar said in a statement. "Once again the harness racing industry came together from New Brunswick and other jurisdictions.
"On behalf of the Saint John Harness Horsemen Association, I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks and gratitude for supporting our fundraising efforts on May 8th in Saint John. We would like to recognize and thank all the sponsors, volunteers, and those who came out to support our group initiative to raise funds to upgrade and maintain the racing surface at Exhibition Park Raceway."
Mahar noted that the harness racing community is excited to get back to racing when live dates begin in July.
"We invite you to take in all the harness racing action this year and appreciate as always support from fans and industry participants in New Brunswick."
