Marino Taken To Hospital
Driver Jim Marino was transported to hospital after being injured in an accident during Friday night's seventh race at Fraser Downs.
Mood Light made a break in stride from post one shortly after the start of the race and fell. Mood Light's driver, Jim Marino, was launched from his sulky when trailing tier starter Brooklets Amazed and Scott Knight collided from behind. The track was listed as "sloppy" due to rainy weather conditions.
Officials from Fraser Downs told Trot Insider that Marino suffered an injured wrist and left knee. The extent of the injuries are unknown. Marino was transported to local hospital for further observation and diagnosis.
Fraser Downs officials confirmed that the horses and other drivers involved in the accident were not injured.
Marino had just returned to the sulky on Friday night after being unseated in an accident during Sunday's race card.
An accident also took place during Friday's qualifiers involving Knight and Wrangler Betonme, who broke stride while racing in second at the third quarter mark.
Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Marino a full and speedy recovery.
