Asmussen, Blasi Cleared Of Wrongdoing
After conducting a ten-month investigation into allegations of equine abuse against prominent U.S. Thoroughbred trainer Steve Asmussen and one of his assistant trainers, Scott Blasi, the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission has determined that the horsemen did not abuse racehorses that were in their care.
Allegations of abuse came after a 2013 undercover hidden-camera ‘investigation’ by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
“The (KHRC) investigation revealed that Asmussen-trained horses were well cared for as measured by such factors as incidence of injuries and KHRC veterinarian scratches,” the KHRC said in a statement. “The stewards concluded the allegations do not support any administrative action because no evidence of rules violations was found.”
