On January 9, Jackson Wittup, representative of Harness Racing BC, and John Yip, Assistant General Manager at Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino presented the Surrey Food Bank with a $8,400 donation.

This tremendous act of kindness was initiated by Daniel Gaboury, owner and trainer of Buddys Hope, who decided to donate all earnings from his horse during the month of December to the Surrey Food Bank. Buddys Hope raced three times and earned over $2,000 which was matched by Harness Racing BC and Fraser Downs.

Financial support and donations were also provided by a number of horse owners and trainers at Fraser Downs, including driver Phil Hudon and owner Bill Boden.

The Surrey Food Bank is a charitable, non-profit organization committed to assisting low-income individuals and families who live in Surrey and North Delta. The organization operates solely from donations of money and food provided by local business and individuals. On average, Surrey Food Bank serves 250 households each day.

Wonderful gesture, and nice to see the horsemen giving back to the community in which they race! Well done to all those involved!
