Did you ever wonder about how Bee A Magician, Wheeling N Dealin, Somebeachsomewhere, Vegas Vacation or Billyjojimbob got their names?

Horses have been named after people, places, songs, movies, experiences, etc. and many times there is a story about why the horse was given this name.

This month’s Fan Club contest is “What’s In A Name”. We want to hear from you if you were involved in the naming of a Standardbred horse, (could be your horse or someone else’s horse) or if you know an interesting story about how a horse was named.

In 250 words or less, tell us the story behind your horse's name, who named the horse and any other relevant details.

The winning entry will be published in the January issue of Trot Magazine, and receive a Fan Club prize package.

Hot off the press is the November issue of Trot, introducing a new feature called 'Horse Handles'. Each month Trot will share a story behind the sentimental, creative and quirky name of a racehorse, with the first about two-year-old trotter Piercewave Hanover. This feature is sure to motivate you to tell us the story behind the name of one of your horses.

We look forward to receiving your entries, and feel free to include a photo of the horse if you wish.

Email your story to [email protected] by November 30, 2014.
