Bonnie Castle In The News Again
It has been a while since there has been any update in regard to the proposed racino expansion at the Bonnie Castle Recreation Center in upstate New York, but according to a report the primaries behind the project are in the midst of updating their application.
An article by the Watertown Daily Times explains that the centre's application, which is expected to be submitted this week, is being updated to coincide with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's new position on gaming in the northern sector of the state. Governor Cuomo is now looking to see up to three gaming expansions in upstate New York, although the proposal, which still has to find its way out of the legislature, would first have to be voted on by the public via referendum.
Marc Fernandez, who is partners on the project with Donald Cole, has stated that new details on the proposed expansion will be made public once the application moves forward in the process.
“We are working with Albany and local (officials) on our plan for Alexandria Bay," the Watertown Daily Times has quoted Fernandez as saying. "I strongly believe the north country needs this to help attract tourism and for job growth that will come with that.”
The report explains that the Bonnie Castle Recreation Center is located on Route 12 just off the I-81, which is close to the last exit before the Thousand Islands Bridge that leads into Canada.
