'Cappers' Look Forward To Xtreme Night
Handicappers will have lots to look forward to on Xtreme Night, Saturday, September 1 at Georgian Downs. There will be a $10,000 guaranteed Pick 4, three $1,000 draws for HPI Customers, and a 'Joes vs. Pros' handicapping contest on track.
'I Love Canadian Harness Racing' Fan Club members will be able to enter the Joes vs. Pros contest to compete against Trot Magazine editor Darryl Kaplan in handicapping various components of the Xtreme races.
For the past three years, Kaplan has hosted an Xtreme Handicapping Workshop prior to the start of the races. This year will feature something a little different, as Kaplan’s skills will be put to the test against some astute handicappers --- that’s where you come in: seven racing fans/punters/handicappers are wanted to play Joes vs Pros. For the seven Xtreme races, one 'Joe' and the 'Pro' will be asked to handicap the upcoming race --- and it won’t always be to pick the winner. A few other itmes are going to be tossed into the mix to make things a bit more 'xtreme'-like:
- Selecting the first horse to reach the quarter mile marker
- Guessing the time of the race without going over
- On the Number – guessing what will the number be if you add the first three finishers post positions up….closest one wins
- Estimating the margin of victory
If you beat the Pro, you will win a $20 betting voucher. If the Pro wins, then the $20 betting voucher will be added to another $20 betting voucher for the next player, so he/she is competing for a $40 betting voucher. All players will receive an I Love Canadian Harness Racing souvenir, so everyone is a winner.
The Pick 4 with a guaranteed $10,000 is on Races 4, 5, 6 and 7.
HPI members can enter to win one of three $1,000 prizes. Just stop by the HPI booth located on the patio at Georgian Downs and get 20x the reward points on Saturday September 1 when you bet on Xtreme Fan Night at Georgian Downs through your HPI account. Horseplayer Interactive members who attend the track will get a chance to win one of three $1,000 deposits. On-track draw ballots will be available at the HPI booth located on the Georgian Downs patio.
First-race post time on Saturday night is 6:00 p.m. The estimated post time for Race 4 is 7:15 p.m.
