Kreiser Hits 1,000 Win Mark Monday At Northfield
Milestones continued to be set at MGM Northfield Park as Cory Kreiser earned his 1,000th career training victory on Monday, Nov. 11.
The milestone victory came courtesy eight-year-old pacing mare Brooklets Desire. Coincidentally, driver Billy Davis Jr., who earned his 4,000th career driving win one card prior, was in tow.
Brooklets Desire cleared rivals around the initial turn, but up the backstretch for the first time, No Soup Tonight (Chris Lems) pounced on her. Davis wasted no time re-taking moving to the lead past a :28.1 opening quarter.
After getting to the half in a leisurely :58.4, Davis stepped on the gas and Brooklets Desire took off, creating separation, and when it was all said and done, the mare won by a convincing 6-1/4 lengths in 1:57.
Kreiser's milestone night wasn't complete though, as Davis and he teamed up to the complete the late double with Buddythebookie.
“I’m thrilled to have reached this milestone. I have to thank everyone who has helped me along the way; it’s a team effort, without them I wouldn’t be here,” said a happy Kreiser.
Originally from Lebanon, Pa., Kreiser began operating his own stable in 2014 following five starts as a trainer in 2010, winning his first race with Taylor Rosa on Nov. 24, 2014. Kreiser was Northfield Park's leading trainer in 2022.
Live harness racing resumes on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Northfield Park, with a first post of 6 p.m.
