Horseman Angus Lake, who in January pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the 2011 accidental death of Michelle Eustis in the backstretch of Illinois' Balmoral Park, has been sentenced to a nine-year prison term

A report by the Chicago Tribune explains that Lake, 42, was sentenced Thursday, April 12, where he also apologized to Eustis' family.

Michelle's father, trainer Chuck Eustis, didn't accept Lake's apology, according to the article.

"She's gone," the Chicago Tribune has quoted Chuck as saying. "That nine years [won't] bring her back."

Michelle Eustis, 25, was killed during the early-morning hours of April 11, 2011 while riding a horse with a friend, Heather France, 21, in the Balmoral backstretch.

It was found that Lake, who had a blood-alcohol level of .147 at the time, was driving the pick-up truck which hit the horse Eustis and France were riding. Eustis, France and the horse all suffered injuries. Eustis succumbed to her injuries a few hours later in local hospital.
