Officials with Century Mile have cancelled the live harness racing card slated for Saturday, Sept. 16.

The card has been cancelled due to the smoke and poor air quality in the region. 

"The health and safety of our horsemen and horses are our top priority and the track veterinarians and officials made the call to cancel tonight's event," said the track in a statement.

Racing is set to resume on Friday, Sept. 22.
