Steacy Nabs Day 4 Sale Topper
The final session of the Harrisburg Yearling Sale took place on Thursday, and Lansdowne, Ontario’s Mark Steacy signed the ticket on the day’s sale topper
.
Steacy shelled out $110,000 to purchase Hip 990, Treasury, from the Hunterton Sales Agency consignment. The colt is out of the broodmare, Cash Cow, and is by a sire very near and dear to Steacy’s heart and pocketbook, Majestic Son.
Bee A Magician, who sold as Hip 959, was purchased by the partnership of Herb Liverman, David McDuffee and Mel Hartmann for $90,000 from the Preferred Equine Marketing Inc. consignment. The daughter of Kadabra is the first foal out of the Balanced Image mare, Beehive.
A total of 1,096 went through the ring in the yearling portion of the Harrisburg Sale, with gross sales of $34,152,000 during the four sessions. The yearling average was $31,161 – an increase compared to last year’s average of $30,730. That number was put up from the 1,124 yearlings which sold for $34,540,700.
The next two days will be the mixed portion of the Harrisburg Sale. Friday’s session, which begins at 10 a.m. will feature Hip Nos. 1150-1762 while Saturday’s 10 a.m. session will cover Hip Nos. 1765-2309.
