Lady Rainbow Gets Back To Business

After having broken stride in the Kentucky Filly Futurity and then again in a qualifying dash last week, 2011 Moni Maker Stakes winner Lady Rainbow was looking for a clean line Monday during Mohawk Racetrack's qualifying session

.

With her trainer/driver Rick Zeron currently recuperating from an October 8 accident at Woodbine Racetrack, Lady Rainbow hosted a new teamster in the sulky for her morning mile.

Scott Zeron was up behind the three-year-old daughter of Muscles Yankee, and the duo made their way out to the track for Race 3 on the five-dash docket. The track was rated 'fast' for the session, but it was given a two-second allowance in time.

Zeron and the career winner of $733,146 lined up in Post 5 and took a wait-and-see approach in the first quarter. Zeron opted to slide his mount into the three hole as Strikeapoise (driven by Jason Brewer) led the field to the quarter pole in :30.2.

Lady Rainbow was out and racing in the second panel and was still overland when she tripped the half-mile timer in 1:00.1.

The filly was all business in the third quarter, as she cleared to the pylons and opened up multiple lengths before spinning off three quarters in 1:30.

Lady Rainbow continued to extend her lead in the final quarter, as she trotted home with a conservative :30.3 final panel to record a 12-length victory in 2:00.3.
