Hanover To Hold Pre-Adios Sale

Jim Simpson, the president of Hanover Shoe Farms, has announced that harness racing’s leading breeder will conduct a yearling sale at the Meadows on the afternoon of

Friday, July 29. The sale will consist of 32 Pennsylvania-sired Hanover yearlings.

“With the tremendous growth of the Pennsylvania program, this sale is a natural. Not only will it take place before one of the greatest days of racing in North America. But its participation should attract trainers and owners from both in and out of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," Simpson said.

"We have held sales at the Meadows previously and have been very pleased with the turnout and enthusiasm shown by the local horsemen. However, that was then and this is now. Since then the quality of racing has improved significantly, as have the purses and stakes schedules at the three pari-mutuel racetracks and all of the fairs in the state. This is especially true for Pennsylvania-sired horses where the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes have more than trebled; the popular Stallion Series has been added and the opportunity to race at the fairs has become financially attractive.”

The Hanover consignment will feature the first two yearlings to hit the sales ring by World Champion Somebeachsomewhere.

Other pacing yearlings to be sold are by Allamerican Native (6), Dragon Again (3), The Panderosa (3), and Yankee Cruiser (5).

The trotting yearlings are by Andover Hall (3), Broadway Hall (1), Cantab Hall (4), Donato Hanover (1), and SJs Caviar (4).

Catalogues will be available on June 20. Catalogues may be ordered by going to the Hanover Shoe Farms’ website (hanoverpa.com) or by calling 717-637-8931.
